The most expensive "BAON". (packed lunch)

P.S. 11:12 AM 9/25/2022- This is the updated MESSAGE in regards of this post only. I am now a 100% AGAINST with the MARCOS ADMINISTRATION. Straight, without any blunt about it, but the reason on doing this is state and reflected for the rest of my life...

I am aware that my blogs are about my experience as part of it. I will never put shame on who I was and what I believed in before. I will not intentionally modify anything on what was written since the day I published this. I am a victim of false information, fake news, revisionism of history and any other form of fooling the nation for one's ulterior gain of power. Updating this doesn't simply suggest of fighting against the government of this country, but to reassure my identity that could stain my reputation on how am I knowledgeable existing to help our modern society. I am once been fooled but there's only one thing I know for myself and from my foundation. That I have a growth mindset. I listen when I am being corrected. Part of my learning curve is to allow rejection, no matter how I confidently right, I could obtain extensive and broad information about the unknown ideas, hidden facts and opinions from credible sources. Our life here on earth will never stop learning and if we do, our knowledge will stagnate and cause of our impoverish lifestyle that can be inherited poorly for our next generation. The moment I was wide awake on how incompetent at what was going on in this country, I have begun questioning their credibilities. I value self education more than anything else and start enhancing my critical thinking ability skills to listen, to learn and to hungry for more about researching. 

Warren Buffet, Elon Musk, Oprah Winfrey, Bill Gates and anybody you knew has a quality in their becoming have only one thing in common. THEY VALUE SELF-EDUCATION. They read very single day of their lives. These are one of the basic comparison that even a nonfunctioning brain should know about, COPY the lifestyle of TRUE RICH people and you'll get the same result. Action speaks louder than words. Be aware of who they are and what they do. Why would you even believe in self-proclaimed elites where their money came from ... what? You name it.

Marked this day 11/19/16, that I have thought of sharing this lovely idea once more. I posted this photo on my social account a year ago and finally, just started my blog, I want to show how I've done it before.

Let me get this straight, I do know some of you might get upset and misunderstood this second topic of mine, but please, we do have a lot of different opinions, beliefs and knowledge about you know ... on what is going on. I'm just simply asking for a little respect and just appreciate the FOOD, because this is, what it is all about.

Former President Ferdinand E. Marcos is my favorite president. Simply, because he is brilliant and has a lot of contributions to our country. I've been following and doing a lot of research, analysis, surveys and almost everything about his works and of course, the history about his presidency. I guess, I had started in January 2015, when I begun loving him. (This is my opinion and please be open-minded 😉). And yes, I am a Marcos Loyalist, as a loyalist, I simply made a "tribute" for my favorite president and at that time, I was so obsessed with Bento ideas.

For the planning:

I thought of making a 500php bill that can be seen in google images. Nori Sheet was the best Bento making ingredient for tracing faces and any other hard drawings. So "why do I have to make it expensive?" My answer is I want to make it EXTREMELY SPECIAL. I come up with the thought of anything expensive and as you can see, on the middle picture above, it is pricey and I'll explain it each.

• Saffron - the most expensive herb.
• Caviar - one of the most expensive food.
• Patchi - it is pricey, had to, for the shape of the gold bars.

Everybody can do that and can afford that. I bought Patchi Chocolates at BGC for Php 215.00 of three kinds. Saffron that can be found in supermarkets for only Php 172.50 and Caviar for Php 324.30. Searchingly, the caviar that is so damn expensive is the Almas Caviar and I got the Lumpfish. Well, at least, close enough. 

And for the eXtreme eXtraordinary food of all. THE 24K edible gold leaf.

Normally, it is not a food, but it's more for garnishing. I really don't know where to buy this in my country, so I had to buy it online. Luckily, I found it on ebay.com and it is quite affordable from Thailand. Edible gold leaf was an old thing that Ancient people/royalty had used as their beliefs, standards and many other reasons. It is totally safe in your digestive system, it'll just go pass through your intestine. It has a mixture of silver (ranging of 22K - 24K gold) to make it edible and safe. Just do some research, it will be a lot for you to understand it completely.

I had also prepared and bought some tools for me to cut, to trace and to add design to it. For the tools, you can buy that in a Japanese store, the famous Php 88.00. They have a lot of Bento tools that you can start investing on and also, at the department store on a baking section. But, I have stuffs at home that I can manage with.

For the 1ST golden attempt:

I made a simple sandwich for my merienda (afternoon tea). I intentionally planned this for his 🎂birthday🎂.  Apparently, I found it difficult.  The tortilla was so thick for cutting and tracing. I used tortilla and dipped it in water with food colouring. By the way, I printed images using onion skin paper for its thin and convenient.

And now, for the edible gold leaf, it was extremely hard (yes, it's hard again!) to manage. It is so fragile that you need a good place with 0% of air (I said air, not oxygen).  The genuine edible gold leaf is so thin that it'll fly harshly when you give a little amount of air and it will absorb into your skin that is so hard to remove. It will become powdered when you rub it. 

It's way too hard to place, so I just put the gold visible. I used ham for the bronze coin and veggies for the other details. My part 1 is just a practice ... I just changed that crisps.

For the 2nd golden attempt:

This is my 2nd and last attempt as of now (11/2016). Definitely, I will make a lot of Bento art someday and was planning to do for my future kids, if only I'm going to make one.😜 Bento art making is great for parenting. You're not just giving assured healthy food,but you're showing a lot of care, right?!

It was kinda late when I made this for my packed lunch at work. I want to do this and post it as a tribute to his death anniversary. At least, I made it not far from that date and yes!, it was my BAON. I want to make it legit, a packed lunch.

You can see a lot of ideas from the net. Rice is the perfect background for any design you want to place and that's where I put the saffron. The next thing is the Nori Sheet, you thought it was hard? Believe me, it was extremely easy. You just need a sharp cutter, a thin paper to print a dark image for you to trace it well.

This is the most exciting part for me at in Bento. Adding a healthy dessert or sugary sweets after a small meal. Patchi Chocolate is the one I'd chosen. Look at it, isn't it perfect? I really loved it. I remembered it was Ingot, Carmen and Sublime. My favorite is Sublime because I love dark chocolate and berries.

Curious about the caviar? Yes, I put a lot of extra care when I scooped one and brought it with me. I even placed it in a tumbler full of ice and when I tasted it, still, I felt the burst inside. It is not that delicate, but I don't know for the other caviar. It took us 2 weeks to consume almost the entire jar. 

The estimated amount of overall expenses is Php 1,300.00 and I think my Bento SRP would be Php 800.00.
